Do the amendments of 1 June 2019 affect my parental leave?

Yes, they do if the end date of your parental leave was after 1 May 2019.

What has changed?
The period of the parental leave that the parents may divide between them is extended by two weeks. And the time frame in which the weeks must be claimed is also extended.

After childbirth
Parents are entitled to parental allowance for altogether 48 weeks after childbirth. The weeks must be claimed within 52 weeks of childbirth. 
4 are reserved for the father
14 are reserved for the mother
30 can be divided between the parents

Multiple births (such as twins)
Parents of multiple newborns are entitled to parental allowance for altogether 52 weeks after childbirth. The weeks must be claimed within 52 weeks of childbirth.
4 are reserved for the father
14 are reserved for the mother
34 can be divided between the parents

Premature births
Babies born before week 32 of the pregnancy are considered premature. Parents of premature babies are entitled to parental allowance for altogether 56 weeks after childbirth. The weeks must be claimed within 56 weeks of childbirth.

14 are reserved for the mother
38 can be divided between the parents

Adoption
Adoptive parents are entitled to parental allowance for altogether 56 weeks. The weeks must be claimed within 56 weeks of placement. Of these weeks, only four can be taken by both parents simultaneously.

Apply to get the extended leave
You must submit an application form to Barsilsskipanin in order to get the extended leave, find the form below or under Forms. If you get a salary from your employer during the extended parental leave, your employer is responsible for submitting the application form. This form is called "Request to extend the parental leave, Employer". If you don't get a salary from your employer during the extended parental leave, you must submit the application form yourself. This form is called "Request to extend the parental leave, Employee".

The application form must be submitted before the child's first birthday.
